11th Ateneo National Writers Workshop fellows named

The Ateneo Institute of Literary Arts and Practices (AILAP) announces its fellows for the 11th Ateneo National Writers Workshop which will be held on May 21-25, 2012 at the Ateneo de Manila University campus in Loyola Heights, Quezon City.

After a rigorous selection process, fifteen applicants were accepted this year from all over the country. For Short Story: Kareen Kristeen Valmoria Bughaw (Cebu City), Al Gerard de la Cruz (Cagayan de Oro City), Early Sol A. Gadong (Iloilo City), Rowena Rose M. Lee (Davao City), and Eric John Betita Villena (Cagayan de Oro City). For Poetry: Miro Frances Dimaano Capili (Makati City), Isabela Kristiana E. The IYAS Creative Writing Workshop of the University of St. La Salle (USLS), Bacolod City, has selected 15 Fellows for 2012, out of 81 applicants from the country and abroad. The Fellows for Fiction are Maria Amparao Warren, Brylle B. Tabora (English), Chuckie Perez Manio, and Anthony de la Cruz (Filipino), Daryl Nino Toring Jabil (Cebuano), Fr. Ikinalulugod na ibalita ng Adarna House ang paparating na Ikalawang Pambansang Kumperensiya sa Pagtuturo sa Filipino na gaganapin sa ika-26 at 27 ng Oktubre, 2012 (Biyernes at Sabado) sa Quezon City. Ang kumperensiyang ito ng mga guro at mananaliksik sa Filipino ay iikot sa temang Wika at Panitikan sa Silid-Aralan. Si Dr. Bienvenido Lumbera, Pambansang Alagad ng Sining para sa Panitikan, ang magsisilbing tagapagsalitang pandangal. Papaksain ni Dr. Lumbera ang halaga ng wika sa pagtataguyod ng kultura at pambansang pagkakakilanlan. Adarna House to hold book making summer workshop for kids

Registration is now open for our summer workshop: book making for kids. In this workshop, kids will make their own books starting with their own story, drawing their own illustrations, and designing their own book cover.

Kids will be taught the basics of book development as they are taught the step-by-step process of creating their own book—from writing their own story, breaking down their narrative into scenes, to drawing their characters and events on each page.

Call for entries to the 3rd Cordillera Creative Writing Workshop

The University of the Philippines Baguio and National Commission for Culture and the Arts will hold the third Cordillera Creative Writing Workshop on May 23 to 25, 2012.

Call for submissions to the Likhaan Journal 6

The LIKHAAN: UP Institute of Creative Writing announces that it is now accepting submissions for possible inclusion in the sixth issue of Likhaan: The Journal of Contemporary Literature.

Likhaan, the country’s leading literary peer-reviewed journal funded by the Office of the UP Diliman Chancellor and published annually, showcases the best of new and unpublished Philippine writing in English and Filipino. Submissions to the journal undergo a strict pre-screening and blind refereeing process by both the editors and a panel of referees composed of eminent writers and critics from within and outside UP.
